Peaceful Protest
The protest that began in June 2019 in Hong Kong centered around the controversial extradition bill that would allow fugitives to be extradited to mainland China. The protestors feared that this bill would grant China the power to infringe upon Hong Kong's rare freedoms. Initially, large-scale peaceful marches evolved into violent confrontations with the police as the standoff continued. The movement, rooted in the desire for liberation, was not about violence but about the right to protest.
